Brilliant cleantech deserves to be understood.
The energy transition is one of the defining challenges of our time.
Somewhere right now, a founder has built something genuinely useful: a better way to store energy, a smarter approach to grid management, a carbon solution that actually works. They know it could make a real difference. But the people who need to understand it (investors, buyers, regulators, municipal decision-makers) aren’t getting it. The meetings aren’t converting. The funding isn’t moving. The approvals are stalled.
It’s not an engineering problem. It’s a communication problem.
That’s where Cleantech Advocates comes in.
Why communication. Why cleantech.
Seventeen years in teaching provided the foundation for everything I do now. I learned early that clarity isn’t optional: if you lose your audience, you’ve lost everything. I also learned that one size doesn’t fit all. The explanation that clicks for one person falls flat for another, and finding the right entry point is as important as knowing the material.
I carried that into a decade of professional copywriting, working with organisations ranging from the Roberto Clemente-Rancho Santana Clinic in Nicaragua, where a single campaign helped donations surpass all expectations, to National Geographic School Publishing, to businesses of every size that needed their message to land with real people.
When I decided to focus my work on cleantech, it wasn’t a calculated market decision. It was a values decision. The transition away from fossil fuels isn’t a trend or a talking point. It’s necessary. Countries that moved toward renewable energy early are already seeing why it mattered. The ones still struggling to make the case are learning the hard way that even the best technology fails if people can’t understand and trust it.
I want to help change that.
What I actually do
I’m not an engineer, and I don’t pretend to be. What I bring is something different: the ability to sift through complex technical material, dense specifications, impact data, innovation narratives, and translate it into language that makes immediate sense to the non-technical decision-makers who hold the keys to adoption and funding.
That means investor communications that don’t lose people in the third paragraph. Diagnostic samples that prove real-world value without burying it in jargon. Strategic narratives that give your technology the commercial credibility it deserves.
The work is AI-assisted and human-verified. I use advanced tools to accelerate research and organisation, but every word that leaves here has been read, considered, and shaped by a person who cares about getting it right.
A note on how I work
Cleantech Advocates operates as a focused, independent practice. That means you’re working directly with me, not handed off to a junior team, not managed from a distance. I take on a limited number of clients at a time, and I stay close to the work.
I’m based in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, and I work with clients across North America, Europe, and beyond.
If your technology is ready for the world to understand it, I’d like to help make that happen.
